2010 Kia Borrego
The South Korean automaker will not sell the full-size Borrego in the United States in 2010 due to slow sales. Higher fuel prices put a dent in the large SUV sales market just as the Borrego was introduced.fueleconomy.gov shows that a 2011 Kia Borrego may be in the works.
2010 Kia Forte
| Starting MSRP | Invoice | |
| Forte 4dr Sedan LX | $13,695 | $13,430 |
| Forte 4dr Sedan EX | $15,995 | $15,230 |
| Forte 4dr Sedan SX | $17,495 | $16,660 |
| Destination Charge: $695 |

The Kia Forte has a crisp, sporty styling that gives the sedan an athletic shape.
The base LX sedan comes standard with 15-inch steel wheels, while the midlevel EX model has 16-inch alloy rims. The performance-oriented SX trim, which features a sport suspension, has 17-inch alloy wheels and a rear spoiler. A sunroof is optional.
The 5-seat cabin has decent materials. Some of the optional elements have a high-end feel that is unusual in a compact car.
The front bucket seats are finished in cloth, and leather upholstery is optional. The backseat is quite spacious for a compact car and can comfortably accommodate taller passengers. The 14.7-cubic-foot trunk is sizable for this class, and it can be expanded by folding the 60/40-split backseat. The release levers for that function are in the trunk.
The base LX trim is void of amenities like air conditioning, cruise control, and power windows and locks, but that will keep its base price low. The EX has all those features plus remote keyless entry, map lights and steering-wheel audio controls. The SX adds a telescoping steering wheel and cloth seats with sporty, red stitching.

Standard features include all-disc antilock brakes, side-impact airbags for the front seats, side curtain airbags, an electronic stability system and active head restraints for the front seats.

2011 Kia Optima

With its redesign for 2011, Kia has transformed its Optima family sedan from a plain, forgettable entry to one of the most distinctively styled cars in the class. In addition to new exterior and interior styling, the 2011 Optima offers a choice of more powerful engines as well as a 2.4-liter hybrid version. The three trim levels are LX, EX and SX.  It is scheduled to hit dealerships in fall 2010, with the hybrid arriving in early 2011.
With its creased sheet metal and low-slung shape, there's a luxury-car sophistication to the Optima's exterior that you don't see in a lot of family sedans. The Optima features the new face of Kia cars that we've seen on models like the Sorento and Sportage crossovers. It's essentially a black mesh grille bordered by angular headlights, and the design enhances the car's aggressiveness. The placement of the Kia badge above the grille is a little odd-looking, though.
The base LX trim comes with 16-inch steel wheels, dual chrome exhaust tips and supplementary turn signals in the side mirrors. The midlevel EX gets 17-inch alloy wheels, fog lights, heated side mirrors and chrome-accented body-color door handles. The sport-themed SX gains 18-inch alloy wheels that are partially painted black, auto-leveling high-intensity-discharge headlights, LED taillights, a small rear spoiler and red brake calipers. A panoramic sunroof is available.

The 5-person cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench seat. The redesigned interior features a more driver-oriented design, with the entire center control panel angled toward the driver.

Standard features include a tilt/telescoping steering wheel, cloth seats, a cooled glove box, a CD stereo with a complimentary three-month Sirius Satellite Radio subscription, auxiliary and USB ports, and Bluetooth for hands-free cell phone use. EX trims add Kia's UVO entertainment and communication system that's similar to Ford's Sync technology, a power driver's seat, a backup camera, push-button start, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. The top-of-the-line SX features leather upholstery, stitched seams, paddle shifters in front of the steering wheel, metal pedals and illuminated scuff plates.
Available features include a memory feature for the driver's seat, heated and cooled front seats, rear seat heaters, a heated steering wheel, HID headlights with auto leveling, rear lip spoiler and a navigation system that incorporates Infinity surround sound.
The base engine for the front-wheel-drive Optima is a 200-horsepower, 2.4-liter 4-cylinder that teams with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. SX versions are powered by the 274-hp, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, which works only with the automatic transmission. Details on the available hybrid model weren't available as of publication.
Standard safety features include antilock brakes, side-impact airbags for the front seats, side curtain airbags, an electronic stability system and active front head restraints.

The Sedona competes with the Honda Odyssey and Dodge Grand Caravan.
A sonar-based backup warning system becomes standard on the LX and EX, and a new backup camera is optional. The 3.8-liter V-6 engine was recalibrated, and the city mileage rating increases by 1 mpg to 17 mpg; horsepower is unchanged at 244.
At 189.4 inches long, the short-wheelbase Sedona is about a foot shorter than the long-wheelbase version. Both minivans are 78.1 inches wide. The long-wheelbase version is on par with other minivans in the segment.

The Kia Sorento moves from a truck-based SUV platform with two rows of seats to a car-based crossover platform with up to three rows. This also marks the first year the Sorento will offer a 4-cylinder engine. In Kia's lineup, the Sorento sits between the compact Sportage crossover and the three-row, truck-based Borrego.
Trim levels include the base, LX and EX. Base models come with a stick shift and the 4-cylinder. The LX and EX have a standard automatic, and the EX offers an optional V-6. All-wheel drive is optional on the LX and EX.
The 2011 Sorento's creased lines and Acura-like headlights follow Kia's recent styling, with a clear resemblance up front to the Forte and Optima sedans. In back, the Sorento's taillights recall the larger Borrego's.
Seventeen-inch alloy wheels are standard on the base and LX; EX models add fog lights, a rear spoiler and 18-inch alloys.

Like the Forte, the Sorento's dashboard houses each gauge within a separate portal and places major audio and climate controls on an elevated central dashboard section. The second row folds flat into the floor; so does the optional third row. A third row isn't offered on the base Sorento, but it's optional on the LX and EX four-cylinder and standard on the EX V-6.
Major standard features include basic power accessories, air conditioning, steering-wheel-mounted audio controls and a CD stereo with USB/iPod compatibility. Dual-zone automatic climate control, a 12-speaker Infinity stereo, a navigation system, heated leather seats and a panoramic moonroof are optional.
Cargo volume behind the rear seats is just 9.1 cubic feet; behind the second row, it's 37.0 cubic feet. With both rows folded down, the maximum cargo volume is 72.5 cubic feet.

The standard 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine makes 175 horsepower and 169 pounds-feet of torque; it uses a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. EX models offer an optional 3.5-liter V-6 that makes 276 horsepower and 248 pounds-feet of torque. It uses only the automatic. Four-wheel drive is optional with either engine, though with the four-cylinder it requires getting the automatic transmission. Kia's system offers a lockable center differential to route constant power to both axles, should you need to get out of some heavy snow or mud.
Maximum towing capacity is 3,500 pounds; that's less than the outgoing Sorento's 5,000-pound maximum, but competitive with the field.
Antilock brakes, traction control and an electronic stability system are standard. So are six airbags and active front head restraints.

Kia joins the boxy wagon segment with the 2010 Soul, which competes with models like the Honda Element and Scion xB. Employing front-wheel drive and powered by a choice of 4-cylinder engines, the Soul comes with a host of standard features and an attractive base price. It's offered in base, Soul+, Soul!, and Sport trim levels.
The Soul is one of the better-looking boxes out there. Featuring a rounded front end that's reminiscent of a Mini Cooper, the Soul has short front and rear overhangs and a fairly raked windshield. Fifteen-inch steel wheels with wheel covers are standard on the base model, but the Soul+ gets 16-inch alloy wheels, and the Soul! and Sport get 18-inch alloy wheels. A moonroof, a rear spoiler and fog lights are available on higher trim levels.
The Soul has seating for up to five with its front bucket seats and rear bench seat. The bench seat is split and can be folded down to expand the cargo area.
Standard features in the base Soul include air conditioning, a tilt steering wheel, a CD stereo with USB and auxiliary inputs, and cloth seats. Stepping up to the + model adds cruise control, keyless entry, Bluetooth cell-phone connectivity and a height-adjustable driver's seat. The ! model, meanwhile, gains a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a beige and black interior, and an up-level audio system with a subwoofer. Sport versions feature black and red seats and metal pedals.

The Soul's base engine is a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder that makes 122 horsepower and works with a five-speed manual transmission. The 142-hp, 2.0-liter four-cylinder that comes on all but the base version also works with a five-speed manual, but it can team with an optional four-speed automatic.
Standard features include antilock brakes, side-impact airbags for the front seats, side curtain airbags, an electronic stability system and active head restraints for the front seats.

2011 Kia Sportage

The 2011 Kia Sportage has been redesigned for the new model year.  Featuring all-new styling, the Sportage also has a new range of 4-cylinders, including a turbocharged engine. It will be offered in base LX and upscale EX trim levels.
Like other new Kia models, the Sportage has much crisper sheet metal than the model it replaces. The front end is dominated by a black grille bordered by angular headlights that creep up the front fenders. A subtle crease accents the side doors and sharply angled rear roof pillars draw your eyes to the back of the crossover. It's an appealing look that's both modern and athletic.
LX models have standard 16-inch alloy wheels with low-rolling-resistance tires, body-colored door handles and supplementary turn signals in the side mirrors. Seventeen-inch rims are optional on the LX. The EX is fitted with 18-inch alloy wheels and adds body-colored heated side mirrors, roof rails, and chrome trim including a chrome-bordered grille.

The Sportage has room for five people, and it has a 60/40-split folding backseat. Standard features include cloth seat upholstery, air conditioning, a CD stereo with auxiliary and USB ports, Bluetooth connectivity, a tilt steering wheel and height-adjustable front seats.
EX models gain a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, a telescoping feature for the steering wheel, keyless entry, dual-zone air conditioning, a cooled glove box and a power driver's seat. The EX also comes with UVO, Kia's entertainment and communication system that's similar to Ford's Sync technology.
Available EX features include leather-trimmed upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, push-button start, rear parking sensors and a panoramic moonroof.

The Sportage has a base engine with 176-horsepower from a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder. Later in the 2011 model year a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder with direct injection will be available. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic with a clutchless-manual mode.
Front-wheel drive is standard and all-wheel drive is available. The all-wheel-drive system sends all of the engine's available torque to the front wheels unless they begin to slip, but the system also includes a lock feature that splits torque between the front and rear wheels up to 25 mph. It's designed for use in especially poor weather or on slippery roads. Hill start assist, which holds the Sportage when starting out on an uphill grade, and hill descent control, which automatically limits vehicle speed during steep descents, are both standard.
Standard safety features include antilock brakes, an electronic stability system, side-impact airbags for the front seats, side curtain airbags for both rows and active front head restraints. A backup camera is optional.
